Designing Underground lines by creating the technical specifications, calculations, and drawings (60% of time).
Applicable federal, state, regional, and local laws and requirements, specifically state administrative codes, NESC, NEC, and RUS
Client Standards and specifications
Mott MacDonald’s Project Procedures.
Working with Engineering Project Engineers, Project Managers, and Supervisor to design the specific project products, calculations, specifications, drawings, and reports.
Modeling of Underground cables using Cyme and vendor documentation
Develop cable system and transmission line construction technical specifications.
Develop drawing packages to support the design (route Plan and Profile, trench cross sections, duct bank designs, key maps, grounding and bonding schematics, etc).
Model underground and submarine cables using Cyme and cable vendor documentation.
Prepare CAPEX and OPEX estimates.
Review RFP documents and prepare proposals including scope of work documents, budgetary estimates and schedules.
Issue Power Cable RFPs, assist with bid evaluations and be responsible for the coordination between the cable manufacturer and Mott MacDonald.
Bachelors Courses needed to perform the duty: Statics, Dynamics, Thermal Dynamics, Calculus, Vector Analysis
Leading a discipline specific team of junior engineers and designers to ensure tasks are completed on schedule and within budget in accordance with the following (20% of time):
Mott MacDonald Quality and Compliance of deliverables standards
Effective planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling, and monitoring of personal work activities
Thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations, and sketches.
Bachelors Courses needed to perform the duty: Speech and Communications, Technical Writing, Dynamics, Thermal Dynamics, Calculus, Vector Analysis
Ensuring that the Engineering work and Engineering support of Mott MacDonald is performed in a technically sound manner and completed in accordance with the Engineering Project Procedures and specific Contract requirement
Managing project correspondence and data by (20% of time):
Continuous improvement of job-related, engineering, technical and professional knowledge, skills, and performance.
Accurate records and files.
Determining the scope of and level of effort required for the Project Design.
Verifying that the Design Reviews have been performed and that Reviewer comments or issues raised are closed.
Bachelors Courses needed to perform the duty: Speech and Communications, Technical Writing, Dynamics, Thermal Dynamics, Calculus, Vector Analysis, Accounting
Candidate Specification:
BS or MS in Civil or Electrical Engineering
5+ or more years of experience required
Professional Engineering Certification (PE) or the ability to obtain a PE in 1 year is preferred
Emphasis of this position is for an underground line engineer
