The Mott MacDonald Cleveland office is looking for candidates with a passion for transportation engineering, experience with computer-aided design and drafting (CADD) software, and a desire to strive for technical excellence.   • Developing conceptual, preliminary, and detailed designs, exhibits and plan sheets
  • Analyzing existing roadway and bridge infrastructure through field visits and record drawings/plan reviews
  • Preparing traffic studies, including performance capacity and safety analyses
  • Serve as a designer under the direction of a Senior Engineer or Project Manager for transportation projects for public sector clients, including production plans, technical writing, quality control, and support in business development and proposal activities in Ohio
  • Design a vast array of roadway improvement projects, including the design of horizontal and vertical geometry, drainage design, maintenance of traffic, erosion control, signing and marking, traffic studies, traffic signal design, highway lighting, plans production, design documentation, technical writing, quantities calculations, and other applicable design and project documentation.
  • Gaining exposure to project, commercial, and client management
  • Actively participating in our Early Careers Professionals Network

 

Candidate Specification: 

 

  • A bachelor's or master's degree in civil engineering, or a related field, from an accredited university
  • At least 4 years’ experience in roadway/highway design or transportation design
  • Methodical approach to problem-solving to undertake tasks efficiently and independently
  • Competent verbal and technical writing communication skills, which allow you to confidently liaise with team members
  • A proficient ability to demonstrate accurate technical drawings and designs
  • Demonstrable interest in highway engineering projects through relevant experience, such as roadway plan production projects from past jobs internships, or school projects
  • Knowledge of the roadway design process, including the development of project geometry, drainage design, maintenance of traffic, erosion control design, signing and marking, quantities calculations, and other essential project and plans production activities and processes.
  • MicroStation and OpenRoads experience is a plus
  • Familiarity with Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) standards
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and collaborative team building skills are a must
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification required

Individual pay is determined based on several factors such as work location, education, experience, and unique skills.

 

 

The expected salary for this position is $84,000 - $103,000
