We are pleased to announce that Homayoun Vahidi has joined our Canada team in the role of Transportation Technology Leader.
In this new senior leadership role, based in our Vancouver office, Homayoun will support our overall growth strategy by leading the development of clients, markets, projects, and capabilities at the convergence of technology and transportation.
Homayoun joins us after more than 25 years at IBI Group, where he developed the company's transportation and technology practice in British Columbia from the ground up into a multimillion-dollar practice serving large public-sector clients. He played a transformative role across Metro Vancouver in the planning, design, software development, deployment, and ongoing operations of a suite of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) solutions including traffic management, traveler information, transit management, revenue collection, and commercial vehicle operation systems for transportation authorities.
ITS has traditionally centered around siloed and proprietary applications. However, the convergence between IT and ITS is evolving rapidly into broader and more integrated "digital services," "smart mobility," and "smart city" areas, which align strongly with local, regional, and global initiatives within Mott MacDonald.
Projects delivered under Homayoun's leadership have received numerous awards, including the 2012 Deputy Ministers Award from the British Columbia Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure. He holds a bachelor's degree in engineering from Ryerson University and a master's degree in transportation systems from the University of British Columbia, and he is pursuing an MBA.
