Mott MacDonald has appointed Andy Clarke as development manager, UK and Europe for its Heavy Civil Infrastructure (HCI) division. Based in its London global headquarters, Andy will spearhead the growth and development of Mott MacDonald’s HCI business, which encompasses major engineering disciplines including bridges, tunnels, foundations and geotechnics, underground structures and specialist services.
The division has played a pivotal role in designing and delivering landmark complex transport projects such as the Elizabeth Line, Thames Tideway and HS2, and the team are currently focused on other major infrastructure schemes such as Lower Thames Crossing and Heathrow.
Andy will focus on expanding the HCI division’s footprint across the UK and Europe, with a particular emphasis on supporting the delivery of complex infrastructure projects. His remit includes strengthening client relationships, enhancing digital delivery and aligning the division’s capabilities with the evolving needs of the market.
Andy brings over 20 years of experience in the infrastructure sector, having held senior leadership roles at Costain, where he most recently served as integrated transport director. In that role, he led the development of multi-modal transport solutions, championed digital innovation and drove decarbonisation initiatives across the UK’s transport network. He also served as chair of Hydrogen South West, where he advanced cross-sector collaboration to accelerate the transition to green energy solutions across the hydrogen ecosystem.
Commenting on his appointment, Andy said: “It is a pivotal time for major infrastructure in the UK and across Europe. Mott MacDonald’s Heavy Civil Infrastructure division has an outstanding legacy and a clear vision for the future. I’m looking forward to working with our talented teams to grow our presence, deepen client partnerships and work together to deliver positive outcomes for the next generation of transformative infrastructure projects.”
Steve Godman, Mott MacDonald’s managing director of Heavy Civil Infrastructure, UK and Europe, added: “Andy brings a deep understanding of the infrastructure landscape and a proven track record of delivering complex projects. His leadership will be instrumental as we continue to evolve our business, strengthen our technical capabilities and support our clients in shaping the future of transport and infrastructure across the region.”
