Global engineering, development and management consultancy Mott MacDonald has officially opened a new office in Maroochydore on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast, marking a significant milestone in the company’s ongoing commitment to the region.
The employee-owned firm has worked with clients on the Sunshine Coast for many years. The new office will enable Mott MacDonald to strengthen its local presence and enhance its ability to deliver exceptional leading services across transport, energy, buildings, and water infrastructure assets and projects.
It also provides the opportunity for Sunshine Coast based employees to live and work locally, improving wellbeing and lifestyle outcomes, while basing globally leading skills and knowledge at the heart of the growing region.
Dan Caldwell, Mott MacDonald’s state manager for Queensland, said: “The Sunshine Coast has a strong vision and commitment around sustainability, wellbeing, lifestyle and the natural environment. This closely aligns with our company’s approach; we challenge ourselves to do things differently to deliver better outcomes for communities and the environment. We are involved in fantastic projects in the region, including the Borumba Pumped Hydro project and the Sunshine Coast Public Transport project, and our new office will allow us to connect more closely with our clients, partners and communities.”
The company recently hosted an official office opening celebrating the milestone where a newly commissioned artwork by local Kabi Kabi artist Zartisha Davis was unveiled. Titled Maroochy Middens, the piece tells the story of Mott MacDonald travelling to the Maroochy region from the UK. Central to the painting is the inclusion of Shell Middens, which traditionally represents gatherings and abundance and in this piece, symbolises the growth and positive outcomes the company brings to the community, with intention, trust and mutual respect.
‘’The painting doesn’t just seek to tell a story of the past and present but be a reminder about the ongoing responsibilities of caring for Country, working together, building, stewardship and unity’’ said Ms Davis.
‘’A constant over time is the Ancestors watching over us as we live up to our responsibilities to people and Country.’’ she said.
Frances Badelow, Mott MacDonald’s managing director for Australia, said: ‘’The Sunshine Coast is an ambitious, growing region and we are excited to become a bigger part of its story. Our new office represents Mott MacDonald’s focus on delivering great outcomes for our clients and our commitment to supporting a more sustainable, equitable and resilient future.’’
‘’The announcement as a successful joint venture partner on the Borumba Pumped Hydro project last month is just one of many examples of how this office will help us be more connected with clients and the communities they serve, while helping our people live and work locally,” she said.
