The Energy Market Authority (EMA) – responsible for regulating and developing Singapore’s energy industry – has appointed Mott MacDonald to conduct a study on advanced nuclear energy technologies for Singapore. The study will evaluate safety performance and technical feasibility, with a particular focus on small modular reactors (SMRs).
Although Singapore has not made any decision on nuclear energy, the study will tap into the company’s global nuclear expertise. Mott MacDonald’s international nuclear portfolio spans independent safety assessments, licensing and regulatory support, technology maturity evaluations, and integration of nuclear power into diverse energy systems. The company has over 60 years of nuclear experience advising governments, regulators, and operators across Europe, the Middle East, and Australasia.

With over 50 years of experience in the nuclear energy industry across the globe, Hyundai Engineering & Construction will support Mott MacDonald on the safety and technical feasibility considerations of the study.
