Mott MacDonald has been appointed by Low Level Waste Repository Limited (LLWR) the UK's principal disposal facility for low-level radioactive waste, to supply project, programme and portfolio management services on an array of initiatives and projects at different stages in their lifecycle.
LLWR has joined Radioactive Waste Management and the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority group’s integrated waste management programme to create Nuclear Waste Services – an organisation focused on the safe and secure management of the UK’s nuclear waste for generations to come.
Nuclear Waste Services is responsible for the safe management and stewardship of the LLW Repository site, the delivery of alternative waste management approaches for the nuclear industry and the implementation of the UK strategy for the management of solid low-level waste from the nuclear industry.
The repository’s project, programme and portfolio management landscape is evolving. Change initiatives across the landscape range from minor asset care tasks and projects to IT change projects and major construction programmes that span many years.
Mott MacDonald has been appointed to provide project, programme and portfolio management services for two years plus extension. The consultancy will be supported by Firewood who will provide a focus on assurance and knowledge transfer.
