Mott MacDonald has been appointed by Manchester Airports Group (MAG) to its Capital Investment Consultancy Services Framework. The engineering, management and development consultancy will provide a broad range of advisory, design and specialist technical services supporting major investment programmes across Manchester, London Stansted and East Midlands airports over five years.
MAG, the UK’s largest airports group, is entering a significant phase of capital development to modernise assets, expand capacity, improve resilience and deliver progress against its sustainability ambitions, including net zero carbon operations by 2038. Its airports handled more than 54M passengers last year and remain central to the UK’s regional growth, international connectivity and long-term economic competitiveness.

This appointment builds on Mott MacDonald’s sustained involvement in supporting UK and global aviation clients with the planning, design and delivery of safe, efficient and sustainable airport operations. The company has worked with MAG on multiple projects including Stansted transformation planning and design, Manchester and East Midlands substation upgrade designs, and the East Midlands cargo masterplan.
David Brown, client director at Mott MacDonald said: “We are delighted to be appointed to this framework, which comes at a pivotal time for MAG as it advances its long term programme of investment. Our teams bring deep airport, infrastructure and operational expertise, and we look forward to working closely with MAG to help deliver projects that enhance capacity, resilience and the passenger experience while supporting the group’s sustainability ambitions.”
Richard Cooper CICS Framework manager at MAG said: “We welcome Mott MacDonald’s appointment to the framework. Its technical capabilities and experience in complex aviation environments will play an important role in delivering the next phase of our investment programme ensuring our airports continue to provide safe, efficient and modern facilities for passengers and partners.”
