Biography

Describe what the Mott Mac Life means to you in three words.

Opportunity, excellence, leadership

What do you enjoy about working here?

Mott MacDonald is a truly connected business internationally. I love having the opportunity to collaborate with teams from across our business to deliver complex projects. Even after six years I’m still amazed by the depth of technical expertise we have across such a vast range of applications.

Tell us about your specialism and why you chose it.

My introduction to nuclear was prompted by a move back to Scotland following my graduate scheme and my first role at Clyde Naval Base. That led to me embarking on a Masters in Nuclear Technology, and before I knew it,  I was hooked by its potential to bring such positive impacts to society.

How do you demonstrate Technical Excellence in your work?

First and foremost, in my commitment to nuclear safety and the nuclear mindset. Australia is experiencing a rapid growth in nuclear skills and as a business with more than 50 years of experience in nuclear it’s essential that we lead by example, demonstrating technical excellence in everything we do.

What’s your career journey been so far?

My early career in mechanical engineering and nuclear safety has given me the technical foundation I’ve needed to navigate some challenging nuclear projects. I’ve progressed through a range of engineering management and design management roles, in both new build and decommissioning, culminating in a client-side program management role for a major defence nuclear infrastructure recapitalisation program.

I’ve recently had the opportunity to relocate to Australia to develop the sovereign nuclear skills needed to support Commonwealth programs such as AUKUS Pillar 1. In the process, I’ve been able to play my part in the growth of our Australian defence business more broadly.
