Richard Risdon

Richard became a member of our executive board in 2025. He is our Group strategy director and combines this role with leading our UK and Europe region where he is responsible for teams delivering projects across a range of sectors and clients.

With 30 years of industry expertise, he has a proven track-record in strategic transformation, driving innovation and operational excellence. Richard brings his passion for improving health and safety, strong client relationships, good collaboration and positive employee development to everything he does. His client-centred approach is built on developing client empathy – truly understanding the challenges from their perspective to deliver the best outcomes for the communities they serve. He was appointed as the regional managing director for our UK and Europe business in 2022.

Richard joined Mott MacDonald through the acquisition of JN Bentley where he was a director and had undertaken a variety of roles across the business including operational delivery and health and safety. Following the acquisition, which took place in 2014, Richard worked to form Mott MacDonald Bentley Contracting (MMBC), where he was head of operations.

He specialises in the water sector and studied civil engineering at Leeds Metropolitan University.
