About the business unit

The Energy unit delivers services to clients globally across several sectors including hydropower, nuclear, waste, renewable generation and transmission & distribution networks. Together we provide integrated engineering and project management services across the project lifecycle – from concept and design to construction and operations, to decommissioning or repowering and life extension. Together with our clients, we’re helping to deliver the energy transition globally.

Overview of role

The energy unit is currently recruiting for a Bid Content Writer.  You’ll be a key member of the unit WIN team, supporting the delivery of winning bids, taking a lead in improving quality responses as well as enhancing writing capabilities across the unit.

We want you to be able to understand what the client is asking and translate our solution and unique selling points into cohesive and digestible content through working alongside technical experts. We are looking for someone who can help us to better present ourselves externally and bring a fresh approach to improving how we tell our story in bids.

Working closely with our clients, we’re opening opportunities to develop responsible solutions that meet increasing demand as well as reduce greenhouse gas emissions. This role will support our business growth across EUNA, delivering to clients on energy transition.

The key elements of the role are to

  • Support major opportunities within the unit by owning, developing and improving technical/quality responses. Interview technical experts to gain insight into our solution. Attend all bid reviews.
  • Integrate win themes, added value and evidence into responses.
  • Work with bid teams to tailor CVs, develop answer plans and provide meaningful review comments (where not taking on ownership of deliverables).
  • Provide ‘one voice’ reviews prior to submission.
  • Engage in coaching of technical writing skills across bidding community.
  • Support lessons learnt from bids and share knowledge and best practice on writing skills.
  • Develop and maintain a suite of capability material including case studies, capability statements, exemplar responses etc. Work with development managers and account leads to prioritise and identify gaps in our library.
  • Apply the Mott MacDonald brand and tone of voice across all documents.

Candidate Specification

  • Knowledge of and interest in energy industry.
  • Experience of producing material for bids in energy or related industry.
  • Knowledge in bid planning and delivery.
  • Knowledge of English language.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High attention to detail.
  • An ability to “own” and take responsibility of the quality response development.
  • Able to build internal relationships to develop technical knowledge.
  • Ability to prioritise, learn quickly, engage support from others.
  • Motivated to achieve results (win work) – working flexibly as part of a team, as needed, and helping the team to learn and improve.
  • Proficient with Microsoft tools and InDesign (preferred).
  • APMP Foundation (preferred).

We are actively recruiting a diverse workforce that is reflective of the communities we serve. We recognise that differences in ability, skills and experience are a strength and encourage applications from people of all backgrounds.

UK Immigration

Mott MacDonald Ltd. are not currently offering sponsorship to candidates under the Skilled Worker visa route in the UK. This decision is as a consequence of the changes made to the Skilled Worker route by the UK Government in April 2024. We continue to welcome applications from candidates who are eligible for alternative immigration routes in the UK, that do not require sponsorship as a Skilled Worker now or in future.
