Mott MacDonald, an engineering consultant leader, is seeking a Construction Inspector reporting to our Philadelphia office. This professional will be added to our project teams and will be responsible for providing construction oversight, including documentation of various submittals and coordination with project engineers and contractors for local projects. The initial assignment will be in the Reading/Pottstown PA area. Mott MacDonald is looking for a Construction Inspection Professional to support the continued growth of our Eastern PA team.

Responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to:

  • Initial assignment is for water/wastewater construction, but projects can also include utility construction projects.
  • Observing construction to identify and document work is performed by approved contract documents, plans and specifications.
  • Perform full-time observation of construction activities and support the documentation process.
  • Preparing detailed electronic Daily Reports which will record the daily activities and be submitted for the project needs.
  • Providing site support for on-site engineering subcontractors.
  • Acting responsibly, acting safely, and observing actions by others for obviously unsafe actions.
  • Recognizing what is or is not a contractual change and documenting any possible project issues.
  • Monitoring all on-site activities and representing Mott MacDonald and the client professionally and competently.
  • Will be required to drive for business purposes.

 

We invite applications from candidates with the following qualifications:

  • Diploma with a preference for graduates of technical/ trade school  
  • At least 5 years of experience with construction or inspection on large, multi-discipline projects
  • Understanding of contract documents, plans, and specifications and ability to effectively communicate with project construction personnel and contractors
  • Comprehension of shop drawings, material specifications, mechanical operations, basic electrical and process control knowledge, and the ability to ask for help when needed
  • Knowledge of construction products, materials, and equipment, as well as construction inspection and management practices and techniques, and safety regulations
  • Knowledge of or experience working with GPS and data collection computers
  • Valid driver's license required
  • Travel to job sites in the region required

At Mott MacDonald, we provide a comprehensive benefit package that includes 401k, medical, dental and vision insurance, short-term/long-term disability, paid holidays, PTO, parental leave and company paid life insurance. 

The expected salary for this position is $65,000-$79,000

Individual pay is determined based on several factors such as work location, education, experience, and unique skills.
