Mott MacDonald, an engineering consultant leader, is seeking a Construction Inspector reporting to our Freehold, NJ office. This professional will be added to our project teams and responsible for providing construction oversight, including documentation of various submittals and coordination with project engineers and contractors for local projects.
Responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to:
Observing construction to identify and document work is being performed in accordance with approved contract documents, plans and specifications.
Perform full-time observation of construction activities and support the documentation process.
Preparing detailed electronic Daily Reports which will record the daily activities and be submitted for the project needs.
Providing site support for on-site engineering subcontractors.
Acting responsibly, acting safely, and observing actions by others for obviously unsafe actions.
Recognizing what is or is not a contractual change and documenting any possible project issues.
Preparing construction quantities and pay item schedules.
Monitoring all on-site activities and representing Mott MacDonald and the client professionally and competently.
Interfacing with the public and client representatives in courteously and professionally.
Will be required to drive for business purposes.
We invite applications from candidates with the following qualifications:
5 years + active construction inspection experience required.
Understanding of contract documents, plans, and specifications and ability to effectively communicate with project construction personnel and contractors
Comprehension of shop drawings, material specifications, mechanical operations, basic electrical and process control knowledge, and the ability to ask for help when needed.
Knowledge of construction products, materials, and equipment, as well as construction inspection and management practices and techniques, and safety regulations
Knowledge of or experience working with GPS and data collection computers.
NICET Level 3 or above experience preferred.
South New Jersey Municipality construction experience preferred.
H.S. Diploma and interest in an experience with inspection on large, multi-discipline projects;
Valid driver's license required.
Travel to job sites in the region may be required.

Individual pay is determined based on several factors such as work location, education, experience, and unique skills.
The expected salary for this position is $69,000 - $84,000
