We are looking for a Design Compliance Manager with a minimum of 15 years of experience in design supervision, of which 5 years should be on facilities/buildings. The ability to manage a team and collaborate with others is a must.

Experience in Progressive Design-Build delivery or alternative delivery is a significant plus. In person presence in Seattle / Federal Way is required.

are seeking an experienced and dynamic Design Compliance Manager to lead the design efforts for a major progressive design build program in Seattle. The successful candidate will oversee the design process, ensuring that all project requirements are met with a focus on quality, safety, and sustainability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with the design team of the progressive design-builder, providing direction and support throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Build a strong culture among the consultant (DBPM) design team, including with ‘design lead’ direct reports for various disciplines, with emphasis on collaboration, trust, and accountability. 
  • Support the design-build team to develop and implement design strategies that align with project goals and client expectations. 
  • Engage with the design-build team. Work with multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, architects, and planners, to develop cohesive and integrated design solutions.
  • Provide support for the preparation of design documents, specifications, and reports. Be responsible for the technical requirements and specifications on behalf of the client. 
  • Review progressive design-builder’s design for compliance with all relevant codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Manage project budgets, schedules, and resources to ensure timely and coste.ective delivery.
  • Conduct design reviews and provide technical guidance to resolve design issues.
  • Foster strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and contractors.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders and AHJs. 
  • Promote a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement within the design team.
  • Be present at the project office full time throughout the design phase. 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or architecture license (AIA/RA) is preferred.
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in design management, 5 of these in facilities/buildings, preferably in transit or infrastructure projects.
  • DBIA certified is desirable. 
  • Proven track record of successfully managing large-scale design projects.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Experience with Progressive Design-Build or similar collaborative delivery method (CM/GC / CMAR, Alliance) and ability to embrace this work environment. 
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations and standards is preferred.

The expected salary for this position is $178,000 - $218,000

Individual pay is determined based on several factors such as work location, education, experience, and unique skills.
