Mott MacDonald is currently seeking an entry level mechanical or electrical rolling stock (rail vehicle/train) engineer to support our North American projects. This candidate will be based in our Toronto, ON office and will be responsible for the following:

 

  • Providing technical and project coordination to our clients on their rail vehicle fleet feasibility studies, procurements, operations, and maintenance activities including overhauls and asset management
  • Maintaining and building client relationships to grow the business and acquire new contracts
  • Client representation, including traveling to client or manufacturer/supplier locations for in-person meetings, audits, inspections and/or oversight activities, as required
  • Collaborating with numerous other disciplines to ensure all vehicle to wayside integration issues are addressed
  • Provide technical advice and support on the manufacture, delivery, and commissioning of the new vehicle fleet, to include:
    • Compliance with fleet specification and standards
    • Infrastructure compatibility
    • Supporting on site assurance inspections
    • Supporting the oversight of the manufacturing process
    • Pre-delivery inspections
    • New Fleet delivery
    • Testing and commissioning
    • Safety and regulatory approvals

 

The post forms part of the Rolling Stock project team delivering new Light Rail Fleets and as such the primary responsibility of the post will be to that team.

 

  • Support team members in their roles as Quality Inspector at vehicle manufacturing locations
  • Provide technical reports on vehicles and/or vehicle equipment
  • Transition from the current fleet to the new fleet.

 

Mott MacDonald provides cost-effective, creative, and innovative engineering solutions in North America for several different industry sectors. We are seeking an entry level mechanical or electrical engineer to join the team with the ideal candidate having the following experience:

 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering required
  • Previous rolling stock experience is preferred but not required
  • Strong communication skills
  • Technical report writing
  • General appreciation of rail vehicles/trains
  • Experience conducting vehicle/manufacturing inspections, quality audits, and witnessing equipment testing is preferred but not required
  • Ability to work both autonomously and within a team
  • This position is located in Toronto, ON. You must be able to reliably commute to our office in this location, per our hybrid working policy.
