About the business unit  
The Buildings Unit (BLD) has a major presence in Mott MacDonald's regional offices throughout the UK and mainland Europe, providing a wide range of diverse and transferable cross-sector skills across five key Sectors; Advisory, Built Environment, Energy, Transportation and Water. We also provide local services to customers and technical leadership to the rest of the Group in these sectors.   

 

 

Overview of the role

We are looking for a Facilities Management Advisor to join our rapidly expanding Facilities Management consultancy service This is a truly exciting opportunity to join an ambitious and growing FM Advisory team to help transform the built environment. 

 

The built environment is changing at rapid pace, with greater digital innovation changing the understanding of building performance and demand for greater efficiency and flexibility in the way spaces can be used. Estate owners and operators are having to identify how they can balance increasing standards with resource constraints on a whole life basis.

 

Mott MacDonald’s team of Facilities Management consultants provide technical and commercial advice on these very challenges to a wide range of public and private sector customers. We are currently experiencing strong demand for our expertise and are looking to grow the FM team in Scotland to work on projects throughout the UK, Ireland and globally. Will you join us?

 

With experience of the FM market, we are looking for you to support our customers through all stages of the asset life cycle to achieve strategic objectives by adding long-term value and optimising performance, to benefit end users. This includes experience of supporting operational FM management, advising on procurement projects, asset management improvement, CAFM utilisation, lifecycle modelling, FM cost analysis, benchmarking and business case support. You will use robust project management and business management tools, and we’re interested in hearing from you if you have experience of digital asset management and building information modelling (BIM).

 

 

Candidate specification

As a FM Advisor you will be responsible for supporting Advisors, Principal Advisors and Project Managers with delivering projects at both a strategic and operational level. Committed to professional development, you will work in a multidisciplinary team where collaboration and networking are essential to problem solving and delivering successful customer solutions. 

 

Essential:

  • Knowledge of asset and facilities management projects in either a consultancy role or operational team
  • Technical, excel and report writing skills, with the ability to use these skills to meet the needs of our clients
  • Knowledge of PowerBi would be an advantage
  • Good communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills
  • High levels of technological curiosity and commitment to continued professional development
  • Ability to prioritise and manage tasks
  • An analytical thinker and problem-solving attitude
  • Educated to degree level
  • An understanding of / interest in technology in use in FM, and / or digital construction
  • Knowledge of Government Soft Landings 

 

Desirable:

  • Writing specifications and performance mechanisms
  • Working knowledge of ISO55000, PAS1192, and Statutory Instruments
  • Working towards or keen to attain a relevant professional qualification with RICS, CIOB, APM, or engineering discipline
  • Membership of IWFM, IAM or IHEEM
  • Experience and understanding of asset modelling and management system
