The Opportunity

As a Financial Accountant at Mott MacDonald, you will play a key role in our finance department, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records, compliance with regulations, and contributing to the overall financial health of the company. Reporting to the Financial Accounting Lead – ANZ, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

Accounting:

  • Engage with the day-to-day operations such as bookkeeping, accounts payable/receivable, and cash management for Australia and New Zealand.
  • Handle month-end and year-end closings, including account reconciliations and adjustment entries to ensure financial accuracy.

 

Intercompany: review intercompany transactions and balances and arrange settlements based on Tax team advice regarding withholding tax exposures.

 

Financial Reporting

  • Prepare and analyze financial statements (income statement, balance sheet, cash flow statement).
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and timely submission of high-quality quarterly consolidation (BPC) reports to the Group.

 

Auditing

  • Engage in internal and external audits including providing necessary documentation and explanations.
  • Address audit findings and improve financial processes to meet statutory deadlines.

 

Taxation

  • Collaborate with the Tax team to support monthly GST filings, assist with FBT return and prepare quarterly withholding tax return.
  • Provide financial data to support Transfer Pricing documentation.

 

Cashflow/Treasury Management: Engage in cash flow management, including disbursements, collections, and the annual cash flow budget.

Financial Controls: Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard assets, prevent fraud, and ensure financial reporting accuracy.

 

Compliance: Stay updated on accounting regulations and ensure the company meets all relevant standards.

 

Communication: Present financial information and insights to financial and non-financial stakeholders, including senior management and department heads.

 

Ad Hoc Projects: Participate in special financial projects, system implementations, or process improvements.

 

About You

The ideal candidate will be a Qualified accounting professional (CPA/CA or equivalent) with at least 3 years’ experience in financial accounting, strong IFRS knowledge, and proficiency in financial/ERP systems. Detail-oriented, organized, and proactive, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. You are Self-motivated, responsible, and resourceful, with strong communication skills in English along with a proven ability to build effective stakeholder relationships.
