About the role
The Principal Civil Engineer will support the Project Manager and Project Director in the technical delivery of projects, including general design tasks and reviewing design information within the Transport portfolio for infrastructure and land development projects. On smaller projects, the Principal Civil Engineer may act as the Project Manager and be responsible for the successful delivery of the project. Additionally, the role involves working on and managing the production of proposals and interfacing with clients to win new work.
Key responsibilities and duties are listed below:
Liaise with clients, record actions, and present where required.
Produce technical solutions to problems, clearly communicate them, and ensure their delivery.
Plan design activities for projects and proposals.
Produce scope documents for internal design teams and subconsultants.
Manage the design team, including subconsultants.
Manage the delivery of deliverables by monitoring progress and addressing issues as needed.
Undertake project and proposal administrative tasks in accordance with our quality and risk management processes and procedures.
Produce written reports for various stages of the project life cycle, including writing methodologies, case studies, and other proposal supporting information.
Maintain and enhance Mott MacDonald’s reputation with clients and develop long-term client relationships.

Candidate Specification:
Minimum Bachelor's degree in an Civil and/or Structural engineering or similar
Minimum Professionally qualified, with preference given to CEng candidates.
Experience leading and managing multidisciplinary project teams.
Experience of implementing quality systems and undertake checks on engineering deliverables
Experience of mentoring staff
Project Management qualifications are preferred.
Excellent communication skills.
Technical expertise across a civil discipline, with a preference for generalists.
Experience in leading and producing written reports and presentations
Experience in leading and producing proposals – both commercial and technical submissions.
Strong commercial and contractual understanding.
Experience in presenting and dealing with clients.
Willingness to travel for short term assignments would be preferred.
