Principal OHL Engineer

Mott MacDonald Aotearoa is expanding, and with that growth comes an exciting opportunity in Wellington. Our Rail Transport team is looking for a Principal OHL Engineer to work on a range of challenging and interesting projects across New Zealand.

 

This role is perfect for an engineer experienced in delivering rail projects from feasibility and development through to testing & commissioning, hand back, and closeout.

 

What You Will Do

In this newly created role, you will need to understand complex contractual requirements and communicate effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team while managing projects of various levels of complexity.
 

As our Principal OHL Engineer, you will:

  • Perform inspections of Traction and overhead lines equipment to ensure compliance with safety standards and completeness of specified works.
  • Monitor and report on quality assurance procedures, perform audits, and initiate corrective actions to achieve specified quality in completed works.
  • Manage multi-discipline project teams, ensuring effective collaboration and integration across various engineering disciplines.
  • Inspect, test, and commission system alterations and installations, ensuring compliance with Electrical Safety Legislation and Traction Power standards.
  • Lead projects and work packages to deliver strong commercial outcomes.
  • Prepare designs, reports, specifications, and other deliverables to a high level of technical excellence.

 

About You

You will be a Rail Engineer with experience across multi-disciplinary infrastructure programmes, particularly in OHL and Traction power. We are especially interested in candidates who are accustomed to working with a range of high-level stakeholders and managing the design inputs for several key disciplines across the programme.

You will also have knowledge of design standards and an appreciation of the multi-disciplinary requirements of civil engineering in railway transport infrastructure projects in feasibility, preliminary, and detailed design. Designated project engineer experience, along with construction experience on rail and civil infrastructure projects, is highly desirable.
