Mott MacDonald is looking for a rail systems engineer to fulfill a Principal Project Manager role, with 15+ years of experience, to deliver the recent California High Speed Rail (CAHSR) contract award and support the rail system teams within North America. The successful Principal Project Manager will lead the project delivery and provide technical support to Mott MacDonald projects across the West Coast of the US (United States) The role will feature the following aspects:

 

Responsibilities

  • An experienced engineer/manager in a large project delivery organization working directly with the client, contractors, and other consultant teams
  • Co-ordinate with the rail systems design teams, across the West Coast and North America to establish a harmonious and constructive single team environment
  • Capable of completing work in a controlled environment to meet budget and schedule requirements using teams and resources across the West Coast and North America
  • Communicate directly with the client’s Project Director and management team, and the Contractor’s Project Management team on all aspects of project delivery including high-level program status and regular progress reports
  • Provide leadership and oversight to ensure all relevant stakeholders are engaged, such that interfaces are considered and appropriately managed. Be prepared to take a lead role in the identification and resolution of interfaces

 

Candidate Specification

Our team of professionals provides innovative engineering solutions for the North American transportation and infrastructure industry with unprecedented success. We invite applications from candidates with the following skills and experience: 

  • A master’s or bachelor’s degree in engineering in a relatable subject
  • At least 15 years’ experience successfully leading the delivery of major rail projects in a client facing role with a focus on delivery, schedule, and budgets
  • Working knowledge of high-speed rail systems and procedures with a good understanding of design integration to deliver quality solutions with a focus on track and Overhead Contact Systems (OCS)
  • Business developer, with experience in developing client trusting relationships and identifying new scope on major projects
  • Proven team leader to facilitate the deployment skills to enable career-defining performances
  • PE (Professional Engineer) registration for California is desired
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Salary Range: $150,000 - $188,000
