About the Role
The Principal Project Manager will ensure the commercial and technical delivery of projects, including undertaking project management tasks in line with our quality and risk management processes. On larger projects, the Principal Project Manager may act as the Project Manager or the Project Director. Additionally, the role involves the management and production of proposals. The Principal Project Manager will lead relationships with Clients on projects and to win new work.
Key responsibilities and duties are listed:
Managing the full life-cycle of the project and ensuring the project is successfully completed from beginning to end including project kick-off, designing, execution and completion, all whilst ensuring compliance with Mott MacDonald’s processes and procedures
Establish and maintain processes and procedures for project cost and schedule, scope, quality of work and project controls
Establish and maintain information procedures
Ensure all safety and quality standards are met; review and communicate project health and safety plans with the help of the Health and Safety Manager so all project staff (internal and external) are aware of risk; prevent hazards and accidents
Report on the progress of delivery against pre-identified milestones
Prepare monthly reports for the client and deliver presentations on progress
Managing the full life-cycle of bids and ensuring the bid is successfully completed
Mentor and develop staff, providing leadership and a positive working environment
Monitor and review compliance with the requirements of the Group’s management system and report findings
Identifying, building and maintaining key relationships both internally within Mott MacDonald and externally with key clients
To be successful in this role, you should demonstrate the following competencies:

Sound knowledge of professional and international standards
IT and standard industry software skills, including hands-on knowledge of BIM (if applicable) and other digital platforms
Continuously looking for innovations and improvements to manage workload and accomplish deliverables across teams and projects
Using interpersonal skills to build and nurture relationships and also creating effective working environments
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with good report writing, presentation, analytical and computer skills
Able to manage/collaborate with multiple teams with diverse backgrounds on geographically and culturally diverse teams
