The Opportunity
There is currently a brilliant opportunity for a Principal Project Manager to join us in Singapore. The individual will be encouraged to develop into a commercial management career pathway. This is a wonderful opportunity for a motivated Project Manager to join our Portfolio, Programme and Commercial Management team at Mott MacDonald, delivering iconic infrastructure and development projects in Singapore and across ASEAN. A multitude of growth areas including Project Management, Contract and Commercial Management, as well as Risk Management.
Some of your responsibilities include:
- Oversee and manage all phases of the project lifecycle, from initiation through delivery to project close-out, ensuring alignment with client and Group objectives.
- Establish and sustain strong relationships with stakeholders through clear and consistent communication, addressing their needs and expectations effectively.
- Ensure projects are delivered within approved budgets and timelines, addressing variations through proactive negotiation of Change/Variation Orders with clients when necessary.
- Provide coordinated, accurate, and timely reporting on cost, schedule, and risk, driving informed decision-making and successful project delivery.
- Collaborate with Bid Managers and Commercial Managers in navigating commercial, contractual, and variation negotiations to safeguard project outcomes.
- Gather and analyse performance data from multiple sources to deliver concise reports on project schedule, resource utilisation, and cost performance against baseline targets.
- Partner with team members to produce insightful commentary on variances to baselines, including actionable recovery proposals to address challenges.
- Ensure compliance with internal governance processes by actively supporting the business in implementing and maintaining governance standards across all projects.
- Actively engage with project teams to facilitate adherence to Mott MacDonald’s internal governance processes, ensuring robust compliance and quality control measures.
- Provide targeted support and interventions for underperforming project teams, under the guidance of Senior Project Managers and Controllers.
- Advocate and contribute to the identification and implementation of digital solutions and automation tools to enhance Project Control functions and efficiency.
- Act as a key liaison to streamline status updates and negotiations between project teams, fostering collaboration and resolving conflicts effectively.
- Utilise Earned Value Management (EVM) principles and tools, including Mott MacDonald’s Project Management systems (Deltek Connect Business), to track and manage project performance.
- Mentor and provide guidance to other Project Managers, fostering capability-building within the Asia PPCM practice and promoting knowledge-sharing across teams.
- Proactively identify opportunities for process improvement, risk mitigation, and innovation within project management practices.
About You:
- Bachelor’s Degree holder (preferably Project Management);PMP certification is a plus
- Minimum 6 years work experience in monitoring and controlling project budgets, schedules, and scopes.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, in English
- Strong knowledge of project management methodologies and tools; Proficient in Microsoft Projects, advantageous if proficient in Primavera P6
- Proficient in Microsoft Office productivity tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, PowerBI)
- Ability to identify areas for improvement and develop measures/systems to drive efficiency.
- Knowledge in coding with Python and/or Microsoft Excel VBA will be advantageous.
- Proven experience in managing engineering projects, particularly within consultancy environments.
- Familiarity with compliance, governance, and risk management within engineering projects.
