About the business unit
Client organisations face increasingly complex and interconnected challenges throughout their business, and drivers for change are both wide ranging and influential on each another. This includes the need to maximise investment, pursuing net zero and making the energy transition. Climate resilience, digital transformation, and environmental and social outcomes also command new ways of thinking and working.
Our range of strategic advisory capabilities help executive teams articulate the future state of their enterprise, programme or problem that aligns their people, processes, information, and technology.
Our integrated management consultancy services leverage our rich technical excellence of complex problem solving, proven through the practical delivery of projects and programmes through our asset management, business change, digital and data, and value chain solutions.
About the role
We are looking for a Principal Social Value Consultant to deliver meaningful impact through our projects and help us develop our social advisory offering.
You would join our growing social value team, sitting within our Strategic Advisory Portfolio, driving the delivery of social value across our projects and helping us develop our social advisory offering with our procurement and social impact specialists.
We are looking for an adaptable, enthusiastic and dynamic individual happy to work across a variety of different sectors, from water to healthcare to transport.
You will:
• Work with colleagues to embed social value delivery into contracts and project delivery – this includes developing unit, sector, and project specific social value strategies and action plans.
• Manage and supervise the work of other staff and coach more junior colleagues.
• Support the development of a social value consultancy offer as part of the Strategic Advisory business.
• Manage and deliver a range of social value projects across Mott MacDonald’s sectors, to include stakeholder relationship management with clients and project teams.
• Work closely with bid teams across our business units and sectors to respond to tendering requirements.
• Drive and feed into the continuous improvement around Mott MacDonald’s social value approach.
• Support upskilling and capacity building across the UK business, including developing domain knowledge of early career professionals.
• Be client facing with accountability for one or more key customer relationships and delivery of outputs.

• Experience in shaping client and community focused solutions.
• Confidence in liaising with senior internal and external stakeholders.
• Excellent communication skills, including listening, presenting, and writing.
• Strategic thinking, creativity and the ability to adapt to respond to client and stakeholder needs.

• A proactive attitude towards innovation, leading initiatives and driving change.
• Experience of developing social value plans and strategies including, but not limited to, actions around skills, education and employment; community engagement; and supply chain diversification.

• Experience of contributing to bids and winning work.
• Degree educated or a minimum of level 4 apprenticeship, preferably in Social Sustainability or a related field.

UK Immigration
Mott MacDonald Ltd. are not currently offering sponsorship to candidates under the Skilled Worker visa route in the UK. This decision is as a consequence of the changes made to the Skilled Worker route by the UK Government in April 2024. We continue to welcome applications from candidates who are eligible for alternative immigration routes in the UK, that do not require sponsorship as a Skilled Worker now or in future.
