About the role
The Principal Wet Utilities Engineer will be responsible for the technical delivery for water, wastewater, irrigation and storm water on infrastructure and land development for projects within Saudi Arabia. They will lead coordination, quality and client engagement for wet utilities across a portfolio of projects. This role is based in our Riyadh office and will support projects being undertake in Saudi Arabia.
Key responsibilities and duties are listed below:
Prepare reports and design documentation for water, wastewater, irrigation and storm water infrastructure projects
Supervise hydraulic modelling for water, wastewater, irrigation and storm water and hydraulic calculations
Ensure quality and timely delivery of Wet utility associated deliverables in accordance with the project time schedule
Ensure that the Wet Utility designs are in accordance with the appropriate design standards and Contract requirements
Liaise with other disciplines to coordinate the wet utility design and ensure a complete a holistic design is delivered to the client
Ensure best practice is incorporated into design submissions
Look for continuous improvement initiatives to improve productivity, including being up to date with technology for innovative delivery methods
Conduct a technical review on progress and provide design updates to the project design managers, project managers and where required clients
Check deliverables produced by others for Wet Utilities to ensure quality requirements are met
Liaise and meet with developers, clients or stakeholders to gain the required approvals and present proposals for acceptance
Coordinate aspects of projects submittal and deliverables, reviews and approvals against contract requirements. Report and advise on deviations from the same
Where required assist in providing design inputs into other discipline reports.
Outline cost and quantity estimation for wet services.
Candidate Specification:
Minimum Bachelors’ Degree in Civil Engineering;
Professional qualified (CEng or similar) with membership in a professional institution, such as ICE (Institution of Civil Engineers),
Experience working across the design life cycle, from master planning to detailed design
Strong experience in design of pressurised and gravity systems using Civil3D
Strong experience Hydraulic modelling of pressurised and gravity systems
Ability to manage a design and approval process interfacing with the project team, clients and stakeholders
Able to manage multiple teams with diverse backgrounds in geographically and culturally diverse teams
Experience of design and approval of infrastructure projects in KSA
Sound knowledge of local authority requirements, guidelines and standards within Saudi Arabia
Continuously looking for innovations and improvements to manage workload and accomplish deliverables across individuals, teams and projects
Adopting an adaptive mindset and using strategic and critical thinking to approach problems in a new way
Ability to deal efficiently with priorities and manage time appropriately
Experience in ProjectWise, Infraworks, Navisworks, Openutilities etc is preferable
A dedicated team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written
Ability to effectively communicate at all levels including external stakeholders
Adopting a proactive approach towards complex tasks and overall delivery
Willingness to travel for short term assignments would be preferred.
