The Project Controls Specialist will support the planning, monitoring, and control of projects with a strong emphasis on cost tracking, invoice processing, and contract management. This role is suited for candidates with 5–7 years of relevant experience who can independently manage project financial workflows, ensure compliance with contract terms, and support project managers with timely and accurate project controls reporting and processing of contract amendments. The position requires frequent interaction with internal teams, contractors, consultants, and finance departments.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Invoice Processing & Cost Control

  • Review, verify, and process contractor and consultant invoices for accuracy, compliance with contract terms, and proper documentation.
  • Coordinate with project managers and accounts payable to resolve invoice discrepancies.
  • Maintain invoice logs and track commitments, expenditures, and payments against budgets.
  • Monitor actual costs against budgets and prepare cost variance reports and forecasts.

Contract Reviews & Amendments

  • Review executed contracts, task orders, and amendments to ensure compliance with scope, schedule, and cost terms.
  • Support preparation and processing of contract amendments, extensions, and change orders.
  • Maintain organized and up-to-date contract files and documentation.

Schedule & Performance Tracking

  • Assist in developing and maintaining project schedules
  • Track progress against baseline cost and prepare variance analyses.
  • Support earned value reporting (CPI, SPI) and monthly project performance dashboards.

Reporting & Documentation

  • Prepare monthly project cost and schedule reports for internal and client review.
  • Maintain accurate project control files, logs, and documentation.
  • Participate in project status meetings and provide financial and contractual insights.

Risk & Change Management

  • Support change control processes, ensuring proper documentation, approvals, and adjustments to budgets/schedules.
  • Track project risks, opportunities, and mitigation actions.

 

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5–7 years of project controls experience with demonstrated experience in invoice processing, contract reviews, and contract amendments.

 

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in MS Excel, PowerBi and project controls systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar).
  • Familiarity with contract language, terms, and cost control principles.

 

Soft Skills:

  • Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to interpret and apply contract requirements in day-to-day project management.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills across teams and stakeholders.

 

Working Conditions

  • May require travel to project sites or client offices.

The expected salary for this position is $74,000- $91,000

Individual pay is determined based on several factors such as work location, education, experience, and unique skills.
