Key responsibilities and duties are listed, but not limited to, the below:
Primarily working on Revit in developing 3D models and 2D drawings for general arrangement, sections, reinforcement detailing of concrete /steel buildings.
Support and implement the execution of BIM strategies on projects.
Liaising with Project BIM Managers for project delivery.
Lead model coordination within the Structures discipline and support coordination with all other disciplines (MEP, Architect, Landscape, ID, Structures, Civil etc)
Delivering projects on CDE platforms such as BIM 360, ProjectWise, Aconex.
Ensure Project Information Models (PIM) are delivered in accordance with the agreed TIDP, MIDP, LoIN, BEP, CDE and Clients requirements.
Ensuring that BIM execution plans are adhered to for each project
Conducting Coordination, Clash Analysis and visual walkthroughs using Navisworks Manage.
3D Model Quantity Extraction / Verification
4D Scheduling / Simulation using Autodesk
Responsible to ensure QAQC is undertaken for all projects – manage and enable the teams.
Undertake high level QAQC on all BIM Models and complete verification.
Supporting and auditing project models and identifying non-compliances.
Taking ownership of the Structures BIM templates and creating families for the structures team
Training or upskilling colleagues in BIM software and procedures
Producing monthly reports for senior managers, to identify and measure BIM implementation.
Assume responsibility for the delivery of cross sector small to large scale projects as Structural BIM Coordinator and/or Lead Structural Technician
Plan and manage the model and drawing delivery requirements of various project sizes and complexity from concept to completion of technical information for structural design.
Undertake complex assignments under the direction of engineers
Delegate and manage tasks to the team of technicians
Provide guidance and input to the development of the existing company Revit standards, CAD standards development, implementation, protocols, documentation, families, templates etc. and its enforcement.
Stay informed on best practice and technologies relating to Revit and project delivery.
Develop and maintain Revit / CAD standards and tools.
Take initiative to learn and apply Revit add-ins and plug ins and interoperability with Structural Analysis software.
Manage and provide training to new Revit / CAD starters and engineers
Set up Revit Structures projects
Assist clients & project teams in agreeing project specific protocols & workflows
Liaise with team lead and marketing team to highlight the organisations project delivery mechanism, including for company website and communication channels internally and externally, as well as meeting and presenting to clients as required.
Candidate Specification:
Structural background. Bachelors degree / diploma in civil / structural engineering preferred.
Diploma in BIM, digital construction or computational design is a plus
Advanced proficiency in BIM software such as Autodesk Revit, Navisworks, Dynamo, Autocad, BIM 360 and ACC for cloud collaboration.
Solid understanding and experience of BIM standards such as ISO 19650, PAS 1192, BS 8536.
Familiarity with LOD, COBie, IFC and other BIM deliverables.
Past experience delivering min LOD 300 projects.
Experience in multidisciplinary coordination eg. working with architects, MEP engineers, contractors and clients.
Ability to conduct clash detection and resolve design conflicts efficiently.
Strong communication skills for leading BIM meetings, training teams, and providing technical support.
Understanding of Dynamo, Grasshopper or Python for BIM automation and parametric design
Experience with visual scripting for model optimisation and efficiency improvements.
Satisfactory completion of assigned tasks on time and to budget, with little or no requirements to re-do work
Production of well-organized output and high-quality technical documentation
Demonstrate understanding of risk management
Identifies and develops opportunities to develop new skills related to job knowledge
Exercise own judgment within authority and a reasonable timeframe, requires none to minimal supervision, seeks additional work including contributions to company development projects
Demonstration of leadership by being accessible, fair and directing, show understanding and understood behaviours, empathise with staff where required
Involvement and contribution to knowledge and interest groups
Analytical skills capable of developing effective and innovative Revit documentation solutions
Thorough knowledge of design software such as Autocad, Revit
Knowledge on Navisworks and Tekla Structures etc. is an advantage
Excellent knowledge and understanding for the structural detailing principles, practices, and methods of concrete and steel structures as per latest relevant UAE and American design standards
Proven ability to assist developing a project team across disciplines
Experience of Common Data Environment Systems such as Aconex, projectwise.
Good written and verbal communication skills in English Language
Demonstrated multitasking skills, responds to changes during assignments and willing to try new ideas and approaches and make things succeed
