About the Role

Due to strong growth and recent wins in the Water market in Queensland, we are seeking a Senior Civil Engineer with experience in water and wastewater infrastructure including pipelines, drainage systems, pumping stations, dams, water-retaining structures and treatment facilities to join our team in Brisbane.

You will be joining a diverse and passionate team with a proven track record delivering major projects across Australia in a growing sector, working with local clients such as Urban Utilities to deliver the Next Generation for Delivery (NG4D) program, as well as national and international clients. Read more: Mott MacDonald to help shape South East Queensland’s water future through NG4D partnership | Mott MacDonald 

This role would suit somebody looking for a new journey, within a growing team and an interest in developing best practice with the local water industry. You will have the opportunity to:

  • Prepare design calculations and support drawing development for infrastructure including pipelines, pump stations, and water treatment facilities.
  • Coordinate design progress, reviews, and stakeholder workshops (e.g. SID, HAZOP).
  • Produce specialist reports and interface with suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Define and develop engineering solutions that balance cost, constructability, and client outcomes.
  • Apply multi-criteria analysis and carbon calculations to optimise designs.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, clients, and global delivery partners.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to bid development.

About You 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Actively progressing towards RPEQ in your field/discipline
  • Demonstrated experience and/or an appreciation of wastewater treatment processes, wastewater and water networks and their associated infrastructure.
  • Proven experience as an engineer delivering water and wastewater projects across networks and treatment, preferably within design and construction projects.
  • Knowledge of national standards, including Water Services Association of Australia (WSAA)  
  • Be a highly motivated individual with excellent communication and written skills.
