About the business unit
The Buildings Unit (BLD) has a major presence in Mott MacDonald's regional offices throughout the UK and mainland Europe, providing a wide range of diverse and transferable cross-sector skills across five key Sectors; Advisory, Built Environment, Energy, Transportation and Water. We also provide local services to customers and technical leadership to the rest of the Group in these sectors. 

 

Overview of the role
We are looking for an enthusiastic and driven transportation engineer with approximately 3-7 years of experience. Experience in urban mobility/transport planning and future smart cities is preferable. The successful candidate will enjoy the variety of work we are able to offer and also benefit from the positive training support that we can provide. The role will mainly focus on urban transport and future cities projects. For candidates with civil engineering background, also contribution to construction monitoring in transport projects is expected. 

 

Key responsibilities and duties include:

  • Applying knowledge of basic concepts and principles of transportation planning
  • Interpreting technical data such as datasets, drawings and maps
  • Applying knowledge of research and statistical methods
  • Researching, collating, analysing, tabulating and presenting data
  • Organize, draft, and coordinate technical documents
  • Contribute to preparation of due diligence reports
  • Attend to site visits and represent Mott MacDonald at meetings with Client
  • Review, monitor and report on progress of works
  • Liaise and coordinate with contractors' representatives, consultants, lenders, employers’ representatives and relevant authorities for the smooth execution of the works
  • Provide professional support to the project team, helping to ensure high quality service delivery and a co-ordinated response to clients
  • Coordinate forward planning
  • Collaborate with other sectors

 

Candidate specification


Essential:

  • Bachelors degree in civil engineering is essential
  • Masters degree in transport planning / engineering is preferable
  • Adopt new approaches to problems, and prepare calculations, review and assess work programmes, monitor work against programme and cost
  • Use mathematical and computer simulation models to assess the effects of road improvements, policy changes and/or public transport schemes evaluate the benefits and costs of different strategies
  • Experience of working within the transport sector (and preferably in transport planning), nationally or internationally
  • Flexible approach, able to respond across a broad range of technical advisory services in the transportation sector, with a willingness to accept new challenges
  • An interest in urban mobility and development of sustainable transport in smart cities
  • Ability to work effectively in small teams and to support larger teams
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills (English and Turkish), with excellent report writing, analytical and computer skills
  • Capability to work to deadlines and work autonomously
  • Strong interpersonal skills, being a team player and effective time management is essential
