Mott MacDonald’s Philadelphia office is seeking a skilled and motivated stormwater engineer. The Philadelphia office supports a broad spectrum of public and private clients, and this person will help lead a team of dedicated stormwater professionals, focusing on local and regional design projects, green stormwater design, and traditional stormwater designs associated with land development projects. We're looking for someone who can function as role models and ambassadors for Mott MacDonald, articulating and representing the brand, vision, and value proposition internally and externally. 

Responsibilities will include the following:

  • Complete preliminary and detailed engineering design and associated documents on a variety of stormwater projects, as well as aid with water, wastewater, and water treatment and collection and distribution projects
  • Prepare planning and design documents, cost estimates, calculations, project drawings, and technical specifications in coordination with project managers, project engineers, CAD drafters and other disciplines
  • Serve as a task/discipline lead or project manager for green stormwater engineering projects
  • Conform to client and company standards for document and drawing preparation
  • Conduct internal coordination meetings and provide substantial support for client meetings
  • Work with team to ensure deliverables are executed with technical accuracy, on time and within budget
  • Ensure formal QA/QC reviews are performed for each project one is responsible for
  • Assist with various construction phase office support activities including review of RFI’s and submittals, and participate in field work including construction observation activities
  • Supervise project staff and train junior staff


We welcome applications from candidates with the following core competencies and characteristics:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Environmental or similar)
  • Professional Engineer license in Pennsylvania preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of project experience for municipal and/or private development related to design and design review of:
    • water/wastewater, storm, reclaimed water systems including water and stormwater piping, or sanitary sewers. Direct experience with local green stormwater design is preferred
  • Strong technical background in stormwater design and planning, hydrologic and hydraulic modelling
  • Desired Computer skills: AutoCAD, Civil 3D, ArcGIS, Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills including technical report writing
  • Enthusiastic, dependable, self-starter, who is organized and able to work effectively with minimal supervision
