Mott MacDonald’s transportation and infrastructure teams work on some of the biggest and most challenging projects on the East Coast of the US. We’ve completed and are currently involved in a whole host of amazing solutions to complex projects. From the Brooklyn-Battery tunnel to the light rail projects in Baltimore, Maryland. Our clients include some big names; including the MBTA and MassDOT in the MA area.
Based from our newly-refreshed Westwood (Boston), MA office, you’ll work alongside an experienced and knowledgeable team of engineers. Whilst primarily our base for our transportation and infrastructure team, you’ll also work alongside our energy teams. It’s not all work though. We have a very active social and sporting calendar. Several outdoor activities take place on a regular basis. If you’re a cycling enthusiast, a few our colleagues frequently get their bikes out after work. We also have annual social events that are not to be missed.<o:p></o:p>
As a bridge / structural engineer III/IV you will predominantly be involved with bridge projects, but will also have exposure to different structural projects. You’ll work across projects for railways, highways, related transportation projects and, of course, bridges. You’ll have exposure to all sorts of duties; actively participating in:
- Bridge design, plan, and development
- Field investigations, inspections, and development
- Type studies, preliminary designs and all the way through to detailed design
- Load rating, construction monitory and expert opinions in the areas of quantities and cost estimating
Not only will you be involved in a wide range of responsibilities as a bridge / structural engineer IV, you’ll also develop your project management skills. Over time you will begin to start managing your own transportation and infrastructure projects and take a forward-facing role with the client.
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, or equivalent
- Certification as a registered professional engineer (PE)
- Between 8-15 years' professional experience
- Experience working on structural bridge design projects
- Exposure to other structural projects
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, LARSA, SAP 200, STAAD
- A MSc is a plus
