Job Description

The successful candidate will be a senior structural engineer within the Mott MacDonald Building’s team in New Zealand.

The Building’s team includes engineers in the primary disciplines of Structural, Civil, Building Services and Façade engineering. The team delivers projects regionally and contributes to the Group’s growth in the ANZ region.

The Building’s team uses the best that technology can offer in the design and delivery of elegant solutions. This includes a digital engineering approach to design and documentation, encompassing a suite of tools in an effective digital workflow. Tools include including parametric processes, advanced analysis, BIM, construction staged analysis etc.

Successful candidate will represent the Group at project level, taking responsibility for the design, documentation, and delivery of projects. They will be ambassadors for the Group within the market and they will also have an ability to develop relationships with Clients, Architects, and other key collaborators.

Along with being responsible for the technical quality on projects that they lead, they will also check the accuracy of the work from other team members. They will also act as a mentor to junior members of the team.

They will carry out the role of internal project managers on projects, promoting best practice and adhering to the Groups internal management systems.

Candidate Specification

Self-motivation, a willingness to learn, adapt and excel
A quality portfolio of major projects that the candidates are proud to describe. A real understanding of the ‘story’ of these projects and how they added value
Varied building engineering experience with an in-depth understanding of structural behaviour
Appropriately confident in their engineering ability such that they are comfortable mentoring others
Understanding of New Zealand building standards and regulations
A minimum of 5 years’ experience and a preference for a chartered status.
