Job Description

Mott MacDonald is seeking applicants for Senior National Consultants for two upcoming programmes in Bangladesh - Better Health in Bangladesh; and Essential Healthcare for Disadvantaged People in Bangladesh.

Better Health in Bangladesh - DFID is supporting the Government of Bangladesh's 4th health sector programme. It is the first foundational programme towards universal health coverage and achieving SDG targets. The three outputs are:
1) Quality Family Planning, Health and Nutrition services are provided increasingly, especially in hard-to-reach eastern parts of the country;
2) Health systems strengthened to increase performance, quality and efficiency;
3) Stewardship and governance of the health sector improved.

Essential healthcare for disadvantaged people in Bangladesh - This is DFID support to complement Bangladesh's 4th national health sector programme. Note this is separate to the programme that directly supports the 4th national health sector programme, entitled 'Better Health in Bangladesh'.
The four outcomes includes:
1) Improve access to essential healthcare including nutrition services for poor in underserved urban and hard to reach rural areas;
2) Improve quality of essential healthcare including nutrition services for poor in underserved urban and hard to reach rural areas;
3) Increase demand for essential health care including nutrition services through social behaviour change communication;
4) A sustainable and enabling environment established including multisectoral coordination, and health systems strengthened.

Candidate Specification

We are interested in hearing from experienced Bangladeshi consultants with experience on donor funded health projects in Bangladesh.
Particularly from consultants with experience in the following areas:
  • Health systems strengthening, governance, stewardship, institutional development
  • Public health, epidemiology, nutrition
  • Social & Behaviour Change Communication (SBCC), advocacy, social development, working with hard to reach populations and disadvantaged groups
  • Urban health & rural health, service delivery, quality
  • Family planning
  • Capacity building
  • Monitoring & evaluation
