We have transport planners located across the UK and are currently looking for a Transport Planner or Senior Transport Planner experience to assist in the delivery of our existing portfolio of work and build on the continuing success and growth of our national and international business.

Our work covers a diverse spectrum, ranging from the development of local transport plans and strategies to the planning behind some of the World’s largest infrastructure projects such as Heathrow’s third runway and High Speed 2.

Job Description

Job Description:
As a Senior Transport Planner, you will be an integral member of the established team in our Central London offices.
You will be involved in planning for new developments through the preparation of Transport Assessments and Statements, developing transport policy and strategy, providing transport Development Control support for local authorities, preparing and monitoring Travel Plans and Sustainable Access Strategies, and developing innovative and compelling solutions to issues of congestion through the implementation of sustainable transport planning measures.
The role will provide an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic professional to demonstrate their already well developed transport planning knowledge and further develop project management and client relationship skills.
Responsibilities of the role will include:
Development Planning, to include producing Transport Statements and Transport Assessments, including the specification and interpretation of local junction modelling;
Transport Development Control support;
Development of local transport policy and strategy (e.g. Local Transport Plans, Local Plans, Local Implementation Plans);
Preparing, delivering and monitoring Travel Plans and Sustainable Access Strategies;
Specifying and overseeing data analysis to include traffic and pedestrian counts as well as car parking surveys;
Undertaking site audits to identify existing and future requirements for transport infrastructure and public transport services;
Undertaking technical analysis, deriving key findings and reporting results;
Project management of small and medium sized commissions initially, increasing as skills and experience develop.
Specifying and managing feasibility studies, preparing reports and presentations
Supervising junior team members in undertaking project tasks
Liaison with key clients and responsibility for developing effective relationships with internal and external organisations
Involvement in the tendering process for new work and identification of market opportunities

Candidate Specification

Candidate Specification :
You must have a degree or equivalent in a relevant transportation such as planning, urban planning, transport planning, geography, or environmental studies.
You should preferably be actively working towards chartership, which we will support you to do.
You will also need to demonstrate a proven track record in the delivery of transport planning projects, with a particular focus on development planning and transport policy & strategy aspects.
You must also be able to demonstrate:
Relevant experience within a consultancy or local authority environment
Technical competency in the areas of Development Planning (including Transport Assessments and Statements), and transport policy & strategy development
Knowledge of the current UK transport policy context and the ability to utilise this knowledge through projects and client interaction
Excellent report writing and other written and numerical presentation skills.
Strong communication skills, both within project teams and when in a client environment.
An ability to apply sound analytical and numeric skills to project work
Commercial awareness and the ability to maintain good client relationships
Experience in contributing to proposals and winning new work
An ability to solve complex problems and identify new innovative solutions
Ability to work within larger multi-disciplinary project teams across Mott MacDonald.
Commitment to continuous improvement and innovation across transport planning.
Willingness to work simultaneously on a number of projects and flexible to work with different teams around our UK and overseas offices.
