We are looking for a highly motivated individual to become a senior technical leader within our new Smart Infrastructure division.
The home office location is central London, although periods of travel are expected to be able to support the global business.
Smart Infrastructure falls within our global business region, Mott MacDonald Digital Ventures.
The business plan encompasses a global remit across all infrastructure sectors and envisages rapid growth.
The division is focused on helping our clients in ‘Realising the true value of information’, to deliver better outcomes across the planning, delivery, and operation of their asset base.
The solutions architect (SA) will be responsible for setting the overall framework for the design, engineering development and on-going delivery of all software essential to the business strategy.
Thus, the role will focus on the software qualities needed of the architecture in implementing the identified requirements (e.g. performance, interoperability, security, etc) while being cognisant of the technology limitations (e.g. preferred platforms) and the related opportunities (the right tech for the job).
The role holder will lead the technical delivery of an integrated solution architecture, ensuring the design and build of our technology stack is in accordance with industry best practice, secure and future-proof.
This will involve providing a platform to upscale a number of our existing applications but also a keen focus on providing an architecture fit for our strategic aspirations.

Key responsibilities <o:p></o:p>
The SA will be responsible for designing the expanded platform architecture and managing its development.
The architecture will be designed to allow incorporation and development of a coherent set of front-end applications feeding from a consolidated back-end. <o:p></o:p>
The role holder will work with internal domain experts and external partners to achieve the following aims:

You’ll have experience within a leadership role, such as technical architect, architecting modern scale solutions and come with a solid background in software engineering / development. You will also ideally have a Computer Science degree or related qualification and CITP and/or MBCS certifications would be beneficial. <o:p></o:p>

A comprehensive knowledge of software integration and delivery through the cloud is essential, more specifically, you’ll have extensive experience working within Microsoft Azure. We’re looking for someone with a willingness to get their hands dirty leading the delivery of technical projects, engaging with, and motivating change across multiple levels of IT executives and organizations.
