Assistant Digital Consultant

Job Description

In your day to day role you will be responsible for building and maintaining systems to control information delivery on various engineering and infrastructure projects. This may vary from major design and build commissions to a portfolio of smaller design projects. You will need to understand information requirements, develop processes and establish information governance to enable effective information management & delivery. You will support the configuration of various project technologies and ensure continues improvement of Information Management processes and procedures to ensure they remain relevant and
effective throughout the project lifecycle.

Working as an Assistant Digital Consultant you will be working with project teams to apply improved methods to capture, structure and communicate data. You will be responsible for developing, maintaining and optimising information based systems, this might be database focused or other leading-edge solutions. You will bring your existing skills to identify opportunities to improve our existing information based systems and we will also expect you to take an active interest in your field to ensure we remain at the forefront of our industry.

You will also be responsible for working closely with the project teams, identifying their issues and providing suitable training to upskill our teams. This will likely require various forms of communication and you will use your ingenuity, soft skills and creativity to ensure that this is successful. You may also be required to deliver training for existing systems and to build confidence and trust within our teams. A key aspect of this will be the need to measure, test and demonstrate improved skill levels to the benefit of our project delivery.

Our projects all vary in length and will cover a diverse range of fields but the vision will remain the same - implement technology to improve our ways of working. By working together with our project teams, you will help solve complex problems and develop innovative solutions in the field of physical and digital infrastructure, all through the application of best practice information management.

Candidate Specification

You will be forward thinking and pro-active to influence change across the organisation as we strive to deliver greater value and more efficiency to our clients. You will be comfortable in questioning set ways of working and able to work in an evolving project environment.
It will be advantageous if you have been involved in project delivery within construction in the past. Due to the nature of our work, there will be travel involved to Client and project sites when required and you will need to be flexible to be able to travel when necessary.

You will also be able to demonstrate the following:
  • A Degree or Masters in Engineering, Information Technology or Analytical Science e.g. Maths, Physics, Data Science etc.
  • Technical knowledge of a range of software platforms, databases and tools such as ProjectWise, Office 365, Revit, AECOsim, Power BI or equivalent
  • An understanding of technology, digital systems and willingness to implement digital tools for engineering project delivery
  • Ability to collaborate and work as part of a team
  • Good problem solving skills and ability to think analytically
  • Ability to work with internal/external stakeholders and be client facing
  • Strong communication and inter-personal skills with the ability to listen, understand and train people to work with the new technology

Job Profile

We are presently looking to recruit an Assistant Digital Consultants to join the Metros & Civils division in Croydon. You will be part of the Information Management Network which is responsible and invests in technology and improved ways of working to help deliver our projects. We previously won the Bentley Year In Infrastructure BIM Advancement award in Project Delivery for our involvement in Tideway East in 2017.

We are looking for someone who is creative, pro-active and able to work through complex problems to deliver better solutions to our project teams and Clients. You might not have all the answers but you are able to think on your feet, maybe outside the box, but most importantly as part of a team. Information Management is a diverse and exciting topic. One day you might be developing a new process to deliver asset information for one of the world’s biggest airports, the next you might be working with machine learning experts to flat-pack a super structure so it can be built offsite.
