Unit Digital Lead

Job Description

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Be accountable to the Unit General Manager and the Regional Digital Delivery Leader for the performance of digital delivery for the unit, being measured on both adoption and business-impact targets, and their continual improvement
  • Working within the framework of Mott MacDonald’s vision, strategy and network operating model for digital delivery, uphold a regimen of continual advancement in digital delivery maturity - identifying, qualifying and delivering initiatives to ‘stabilise, improve and disrupt’ business delivery at-scale, in support of the unit’s business goals, or to open new opportunities
  • Coordinate the division level digital leaders within the unit, ensuring the Digital Delivery Network’s operating model is consistently implemented and upheld; provide guidance, coaching and direction as required
  • In coordination with the Regional Digital Delivery Leader, maintain appropriate resource-management infrastructure for the unit - including supply-chain management of internal providers of project technology, and an ‘evergreen’ pipeline of digital skills for business delivery
  • In conjunction with the Regional Digital Delivery Leader, and Group Digital Delivery Director, support development and implementation of Mott MacDonald’s vision, strategy and thought leadership platform for digital delivery – including generating advocacy for digital delivery internally, and the Mott MacDonald brand externally
  • Be accessible as an expert resource available for high-value engagements (e.g. major bid preparation), or business-critical troubleshooting; be the point-of-escalation for digital delivery within the unit
  • Act as the digital advisory lead for Unit; engaging clients, developing fee-earning opportunities, leading bids and projects in the digital advisory space such as BIM consultations, digital transformation and information advisory.

Candidate Specification

  • Proven ability to deliver quantifiable business benefit from digital technology at a scale comparable with the Mott MacDonald business unit for which you are applying; including direction of digital change initiatives
  • Experience of managing profit and loss accounts for multiple projects is essential
  • Good understanding of the engineering, construction and infrastructure sector specific to the Mott MacDonald business unit for which you are applying - its business models, market trends, competitive landscape and idiosyncrasies; able to confidently position digital delivery strategically, as front-line business tool and competitive differentiator
  • Knowledge of the project technology landscape, including key providers and platforms, together with deep-expertise in a minimum of one platform or major technology-enabled process (e.g. BIM, GIS etc.)
  • Familiarity with contemporary digital trends, and ability to horizon-scan, translating abstract digital futures into real-world business threats and opportunities (ideation)
  • Ability to build advocacy for the role of digital technology in business delivery across diverse groups; including nurturing stakeholder relations up to Unit GM level to win buy-in to the digital change agenda
