Senior Hydrogen Consultant
Role Specific Duties:
Leadership and management
Business development and sales associated with hydrogen-related Energy projects. Includes tracking opportunities and supporting to convert these into fee-paying work.
Liaise with government and related bodies, private investors and developers.
Ability to work independently locally and within a broader global hydrogen practice as well as to form and lead teams.
Scope and manage technical and feasibility studies and delivery projects relating to hydrogen production technologies as well as hydrogen management and downstream use in the energy, transport and industrial sectors.
Projects/ Workload that candidate will be involved in:
Standalone commissions as well as integrated projects with other disciplines and services (such as transport and built environment).
- Local support to global Mott MacDonald Hydrogen initiative.
- Support Energy projects elsewhere in Asia Pacific and globally.
- Thorough knowledge of hydrogen (green/blue/grey) sector including policy and regulations, production technology, storage technology, transport technology and hydrogen uses.
Masters or Bachelor Degree in engineering, chemical, renewable or any relevant discipline
Experienced and established senior practitioner in hydrogen process design (electrolysis, reformation and partial oxidation, fuel cells)
Essential competencies / skills:
Strong engineering background (with a specialism in Process Engineering or equivalent)
Management and control of risks including HAZOP/HAZID etc
Excellent report writing and communication skills
Ability to work on own initiative or as part of a team
Sharp analytical skills and the ability to present quantitative knowledge to non-experts
Ability to meet tight deadlines
Preparedness to travel worldwide on short business assignments
Excellent working ability of MS Office and relevant software packages
Appreciation of project risk and mitigation
Energy and process modelling skills using relevant software packages
Ability to work in multi-disciplinary teams
Appreciation of commercial sphere of project work including contract terms
Project Management experience
Desired competencies / skills:
Demonstratable experience developing hydrogen systems and technologies such as electrolysis-based production systems, fuel cell power production and advanced hydrogen conversion systems.
Demonstratable experience meeting deliverables, project objectives and targets and developing innovative solutions.
Relevant system design experience including the development of PFDs, P&IDs, control architectures and associated system modelling capability.
Research and development background in the development of hydrogen based technologies an advantage.
Understanding of relevant regulatory and safety requirements associated with hydrogen gas installations, COMAH etc.
Previous experience in hydrogen infrastructure projects such as production, refuelling and storage
