Aviation
Mott MacDonald was selected to provide programme management services for the design and construction of the Airbus Final Assembly Line, in association with Hoar Program Management. Airbus has become the first new manufacturer of large commercial aircraft in the US in more than 40 years.
Buildings
Our buildings team continues to grow, particularly in Canada, where our significant projects have included Mosaic Stadium in Saskatchewan.
Energy
Our energy specialists have a strong track record spanning three decades in the power engineering industry. We served as the lender’s technical advisor and owner's engineers for the Block Island Wind Farm, the first offshore wind farm in the US.
Highways and bridges
We provided programme management and monitoring for the design and construction of the new US$6 billion San Francisco-Oakland Bay self-anchored suspension bridge. A range of technical, logistical, and procurement proposals shaved US$400 million off the projected delivery cost.
Oil and gas
For the Southeast Market Expansion project, undertaken for Boardwalk/Gulf South Pipeline, we provided project management, engineering design, surveys, mapping, right-of-way acquisition, environmental support, and construction bid packages for 70 miles (113km) of pipeline between central Mississippi and the Gulf Coast.
Ports and coastal
An award-winning project on the Gulf Coast of Texas reopened Cedar Bayou more than 30 years after it was bulldozed to keep an oil spill from washing ashore at a wildlife refuge. The reopened bayou serves as an ecological lifeline, revitalising the habitat for fish, crabs, and the endangered whooping crane.
Rail
We are subconsultant and programme manager for the downtown rail extension of the US$4.2 billion Transbay Transit Center in San Francisco. The transit centre will house nine bus and rail systems in one facility, making it the largest of its kind west of New York City.
Tunnels
We are providing programme and construction management for America’s largest infrastructure project: the US$7.3 billion East Side Access project in New York City, which will connect the Long Island Rail Road with Grand Central Station. Conditions range from soft ground in Queens to hard rock under Manhattan, requiring a huge variety of tunneling techniques.
Water and environment
In Washington, DC we provide programme management in support of DC Water's ongoing $350 million 10-year water system capital improvement programme. Having implemented the water system geographic information system, our team is now helping develop an integrated water distribution and sewer collection system.
