The onshore Windpark Kroningswind in the Netherlands has commenced construction after successfully reaching financial close. Mott MacDonald is the lender’s technical advisor on the project to KBC Bank, Rabobank and NWB Bank. TINC investors and TDP shareholders will sponsor the wind farm and energy company Eneco will purchase power under a 16-year contract.
Windpark Kroningswind is located at Goeree-Overflakkee in the Netherlands. The wind park includes the construction of 19 Vestas V117 wind turbines and has a total installed capacity of approximately 80MW. The wind park is scheduled to produce its first electricity by the end of 2022.
As lender’s technical advisor, Mott MacDonald undertook a review of design, energy yield assessment, project management, environmental and financial plans. The consultancy will now monitor construction and operation of the wind park in an ongoing role. Windpark Kroningswind is part of a growing portfolio of renewable projects that Mott MacDonald is involved with in the Netherlands.
Mott MacDonald’s project manager, Rick Janssen, said: “We were really pleased to work on the Windpark Kroningswind as it will generate green electricity for the next 25 years, equivalent to the consumption of approximately 65,000 households. Our team of international and local in-house consultants helped the project to achieve financial close in the challenging times posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.”
