The €385 million Bursa integrated health campus public-private partnership (PPP) project in Turkey has successfully reached financial close. Mott MacDonald is lenders’ technical and environmental advisor on the scheme.
Located to the west of Bursa in the Nilüfer region, the 459,588 sq m campus will have a total capacity of 1355 beds across three hospitals. It will be comprised of a 1055-bed main hospital, 200-bed physical therapy and rehabilitation facility and 100-bed high-security psychiatric unit.
During the scheme’s financing stage, Mott MacDonald performed technical due diligence on key aspects of the project including payment mechanism analysis and contract, design, construction, cost and facilities management reviews. The consultancy will now provide construction and operational monitoring services during the full debt repayment period.
Burak Sencer, Mott MacDonald’s country manager for Turkey, said: “This project is a continuation of our long-standing involvement in Turkey’s hospital transformation programme. Bursa is the ninth healthcare PPP financing in Turkey to achieve financial close on which we have acted as lenders’ technical advisor. Our experts have worked hard to achieve this milestone, with collaboration between offices in the UK, France and Turkey playing a key role. We have also developed good working relationships with both the project lenders and sponsors, which will hopefully generate future project opportunities in the country.”
“Mott MacDonald is technical advisor on eleven projects in the Turkish healthcare PPP programme, reaffirming our position as one of the pre-eminent lenders' technical advisors globally,” Burak added.
Construction of the Bursa integrated health campus is expected to be completed by the end of 2019, which will be followed by a 25-year concession period.
