Mott MacDonald has appointed Adrian Garnero as a technical director in its advisory business in Australia. He will further develop the consultancy’s capabilities and services in this area to new and existing clients.
Adrian has nearly 25 years’ experience in the planning, development and delivery of complex infrastructure projects, with the last nine years spent working in the transport sector. He joins Mott MacDonald from Transport for New South Wales, where he was program director for their multibillion AUS£ Transport Access Program which focuses on upgrading railway stations and ferry wharves, building new car parks and improving the safety and security of transport assets. Adrian was responsible for securing funds, developing business cases and concept designs and the overall management of the initiative.
Prior to this role, Adrian was general manager for network development at Rail Corporation New South Wales. During this time, he was responsible for managing a team of transport planners and project managers that developed designs for new stations and rail lines, station and lift upgrades and stabling yards. This team also devised short and long-term rail plans that identified where expected growth was to occur, identified areas of congestion and where new or existing rolling stock would be required to be located for the efficient running of the rail network.
Commenting on joining Mott MacDonald, Adrian said: “Having worked with Mott MacDonald for a number of years on their client side, I know it is a company that provides quality outcomes and excellent service. It also has a great culture that I knew I wanted to be part of, so I’m excited by this new challenge and happy to be part of the team. I’m also looking forward to continuing to work closely with former colleagues and maintaining key client relationships as a consultant.”
David Johnson, Mott MacDonald’s managing director for Australia and New Zealand, added: “As an experienced program manager, Adrian brings an in-depth understanding and knowledge of what our clients require and where we can help them. His diverse experience of managing major infrastructure projects means he is the perfect fit for this important role.”
