Mott MacDonald has appointed Cathy Travers as general manager of its UK and Europe built environment business. Cathy succeeds David Webster, who has retired after 42 years with the company.
Cathy began her career with Husband and Company nearly 30 years ago as a chartered engineer, before joining Mott MacDonald in 1990 following the consultancy’s acquisition of Husband and Company. Since then, she has held a range of operational and business development roles, most recently acting as development director for Mott MacDonald’s UK and Europe regional business. Cathy's career has involved the civil and structural design of major buildings and infrastructure across the UK and more recently she has provided project management, technical and procurement advice to a variety of public and private sector clients. She was also responsible for establishing the consultancy’s built environment team in Canada and has played a leading role in the development of Mott MacDonald's early career professionals.
Mike Haigh, Mott MacDonald’s managing director, said: “I’m delighted that Cathy will be leading our built environment business, she has all the skills needed to do an excellent job. She has spent nearly her whole career with us, successfully leading many teams and projects, so the knowledge and experience she will bring to this role will be invaluable.”
