Mott MacDonald has appointed Leigh Dalwood as transport planning technical director in Australia. He will be responsible for leading the Adelaide transport planning team.
Leigh is a civil engineer with extensive knowledge and experience in strategic transport planning, concept planning and design, business case development and community engagement in transport planning matters. He spent 19 years with the Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure, South Australia, where he was responsible for the project management and delivery of numerous multi-disciplinary integrated transport and land-use planning studies for the state. Leigh spent five years leading South Australia’s largest transport planning study, the North-South Corridor.
Commenting on his appointment, Leigh said: “Having worked in both public and private sectors, I’ve been involved with many different consultants that perform transport planning services across Australia and New Zealand. What impresses me most about Mott MacDonald is its depth of knowledge, resulting from the approach to collaboration across its global transport sector. This gives clients a service that many other consultants are unable to match either due to their size or the way their businesses are structured.”
Mott MacDonald has a strong involvement in the transport planning sector across Australia which is rapidly evolving due to new and emerging technologies. In Adelaide, the consultancy had key involvement in the planning and concept phase of the Anzac Highway to Regency Road project and is also part of the T2T Alliance delivering the Torrens Road to River Torrens Project, a 4km non-stop section of roadway currently under construction.
David Johnson, Mott MacDonald’s managing director for Australia and New Zealand, added: “The challenges our cities face today are very different to those a decade ago – but so are the answers. We provide better solutions for our clients because we have a solid understanding of how current and emerging technologies can improve our clients’ transport strategies, planning and prioritisation processes. Leigh’s extensive knowledge and experience will further enhance the outcomes we’re able to deliver to our clients.”
