Global engineering, management and development consultancy Mott MacDonald has moved its Sheffield team to larger offices in Derwent House, right in the heart of the city centre. The new state-of-the-art office, capable of seating up to 200 staff, will provide the consultancy with improved flexible working and collaborative spaces, meeting rooms and IT equipment for its multi-sector teams.
Mott MacDonald has had a presence in Sheffield for over 80 years and during this time has developed long-lasting relationships with a broad range of clients, including commercial enterprises, local authorities and service providers. Major projects the consultancy has worked on in Sheffield include Vulcan House, the headquarters of the UK Border Agency, the city’s Building Schools for the Future programme which consisted of over 14 schools and the £56 million Great Yorkshire Way road link.
The consultancy’s Sheffield team is currently supporting a variety of local and national clients on major schemes. Some of these include the Sheffield Lower Don Valley Flood Defence Project for Sheffield City Council, the landmark £120 million Glassworks retail and leisure scheme for Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council and the National College for Nuclear in Cumbria.
The seven-storey Derwent House recently underwent a major refurbishment to bring it in line with the latest building and energy efficiency standards. The revamp included an overhaul of the common areas and reception to create a larger entrance, as well as the creation of staff amenities.
John Bowes, Mott MacDonald’s office lead for Sheffield, said: “We’re excited to be boosting our presence in Sheffield. By strategically placing ourselves in the heart of the city centre we will be able to better support our clients throughout the north of England. We will also be able to utilise our modern space to host industry events and talks from the likes of the Institution of Civil Engineers and the Institution of Structural Engineers.”
Mott MacDonald will hold a client party in July 2017 to celebrate moving to Derwent House.
