Mott MacDonald has completed its role as technical advisor to The Marguerite Fund for an investment assessment of Project Celsius, an onshore wind development located 100km south east of Gothenburg, Sweden. The scheme will help contribute to Sweden's energy goal to run the country entirely on renewable energy by 2040.
The Marguerite Fund has acquired the 46.8MW wind farm, which will comprise 13 Siemens wind turbine generators once constructed. Mott MacDonald assessed the financial viability of the project by providing a technical report outlining the status, risks and upside potential in relation to the investment decision. A key consideration was the use of new technology with greater hub heights to maximise the scheme’s energy yield potential.
Gary Bills, Mott MacDonald's project director, said: "This project is representative of the favourable Scandinavian wind market. There are increasing opportunities in the region and we are pleased to be able to help clients in making important investment decisions based on our experience gained from international projects."
Project Celsius is expected to be fully operational by the second half of 2018.
