We’re delighted with the Government’s decision to proceed with HS2, a project we have supported and been involved with since the very beginning. We firmly believe that HS2 will make a vital contribution towards meeting the needs of communities, businesses and industry through a 21st century rail system. It will also boost the UK infrastructure sector by providing jobs, apprenticeships and career opportunities for both the current and next generation in professions ranging from engineering to project management to environmental consultancy. From Mott MacDonald’s perspective, and our involvement in strategic infrastructure development in the UK and all over the world, it means we continue to offer rewarding opportunities for our people to work on exciting projects and develop their careers.
We believe the project will deliver real benefits including:
- Greater capacity on the existing railway network to improve rail services across the country
- Improved predictably, resilience, and frequency for all rail customers
- Being a catalyst for economic growth across Britain
- Supporting the transition to a net-zero carbon UK economy
We’re also delighted that the Government wants to push forward with developing an east-west rail connection in the north. We’re supporting Network Rail and Transport for the North in developing this new route which will be a step change in transport to unlock the economic potential of the North. It will transform rail services making it easier to move between the region’s towns and cities. This is good news for the whole of the UK economy.
