Mott MacDonald to work on the Client Support Framework for the Environment Agency

Mott MacDonald has won a key place on the Client Support Framework (CSF) for the Environment Agency.

The CSF will run until 2023 and will be delivered through the Environment Agency’s Next Generation Supplier Arrangements (NGSA). The framework will run alongside the Collaborative Delivery Framework (CDF) to mitigate the effects of climate change by reducing the risk of flooding, protecting the environment whilst promoting sustainable development.

The CSF aims to provide national consistency in technical and commercial delivery, independent assurance, review and advice to the client. It is also available to other Risk Management Authorities and DEFRA.

Mott MacDonald will work on both Lot 1 and Lot 2 of the CSF. Lot 1 will include technical delivery support including site supervision, construction design management, independent technical assurance, asset management, environmental services and reservoir engineering. Lot 2 will comprise of contract, cost and carbon management support services including full lifecycle project and programme management.

The framework manager at Mott MacDonald, Mark Plowman said: “We are absolutely delighted to be working on the Client Support Framework in collaboration with the Environment Agency and its partners. This framework will make a real difference in enabling us to help combat the effects of climate change and will ensure our expertise within the Flood and Coastal Risk Management sector is maintained into the future. The NGSA arrangements mark a step change in how the Environment Agency delivers its capital programme and we are extremely excited at the prospect of working as ‘One Team’ to deliver shared outcomes.”

Toby Willison, executive director of operations at the Environment Agency, said:

“This ambitious new framework will help us to continue to deliver our £2.6 billion flood and coastal defence programme in a way which ensures that sustainability, efficiency and value for money remain at the very heart of the work we do to protect people, homes and the environment.”

“The Environment Agency continues to work closely with partners and communities from across the country to deliver our commitment of investing £2.6 billion to better protect 300,000 homes from flooding and coastal erosion over six years.”
