Mott MacDonald has been appointed as part of a multidisciplinary team led by Allies and Morrison to deliver a strategic masterplan for Victoria in London, UK. The aim of the project is to devise an all-embracing blueprint which will deliver more housing and jobs, and also transform the look of the station and surrounding area.
In the last ten years there has been a major increase in mixed-use development and investment in the transport network in the Victoria area, but there are still significant opportunities to enhance the district’s environment. The area is home to a vibrant residential and business community, but the quality of the streets, public spaces and station environment requires fresh thinking to be equipped for the future.
To explore potential options, the Victoria Station Environs Strategy has been commissioned by a partnership comprising Westminster City Council, Network Rail, Transport for London (TfL), the Greater London Authority (GLA) and the Victoria Business Improvement District. The strategy will be a catalyst for wider improvements benefitting residents, businesses and visitors, creating a strong identity for Victoria, as part of a global London.
The full multi-disciplinary team for the project led by Allies and Morrison includes WW+P architects, real estate advisors Avison Young and stakeholder and community engagement consultants Snapdragon.
Ian Watkins. Mott MacDonald project principal said: “This is a significant step towards improving the district around Victoria for residents, businesses and workers, commuters and tourists. The multidisciplinary team has worked alongside each other on other major schemes in London and we know the strengths each company offers. Working as one team with client partnership we’ll develop proposal to help realise the significant opportunities that are possible. We look forward to working with local stakeholders, especially the residential community, to help create this vision for Victoria.”
