Biography

Describe what the Mott Mac Life means to you in three words

Excellence, impact, purpose.

What do you enjoy about working here?

Collaborating with talented people to turn technical excellence into real‑world impact.

Tell us about your specialism and why you chose it

I specialise in supporting clients to develop pumped storage and hydropower sustainable energy schemes, where technical excellence can deliver long‑term, reliable impact for energy systems. Pumped storage is a type of hydroelectric energy storage that stores electricity by moving water between two reservoirs at different elevations, acting like a giant rechargeable battery. I lead complex projects from early feasibility through to construction and operation and provide advisory support at critical decision points such as front-end engineering design (FEED), due diligence and investment readiness.

I chose this field because it sits at the intersection of engineering, sustainability and resilience, and offers a real opportunity to support energy transition while creating lasting value for communities.

How has your career progressed since joining Mott MacDonald?

I have taken increasing responsibility across hydropower and pumped storage, moving from technical delivery into broader business development and leadership roles. Along the way, I’ve had the opportunity to work across regions, build strong client relationships and help grow our hydropower and pumped storage business.

How do you demonstrate technical excellence in your work?

I apply strong engineering fundamentals, connect disciplines through collaborative thinking and maintain a clear focus on quality throughout delivery. On complex hydropower and pumped storage projects, my broad understanding of the full development lifecycle allows me to ask the right questions, apply sound technical judgement, identify risks early and support clear, well‑informed decisions that create long‑term value for communities and deliver resilient, low‑carbon outcomes.

Where in the world has your role taken you?

I have worked on projects in more than 30 countries across Europe, Asia, Africa and the Americas. This global experience has strengthened my understanding of how technical, environmental and social considerations vary by location and the importance of delivering solutions that respond to local needs.

What are your career highlights and achievements?

I am proud to have supported clients from early feasibility through to construction and operation on around 4GW of greenfield and brownfield hydropower and pumped storage projects. A major highlight was being highly commended as Mott MacDonald’s Project Manager of the Year in 2014, as it was a recognition of my commitment to technical excellence and collaborative delivery.
