Biography
Alan is a technical director and transport operations leader with more than 36 years’ experience across high-speed rail, light rail, heavy rail, freight and multimodal transport in Australia, New Zealand and the UK. He specialises in railway operations, service planning, live-rail delivery and commissioning, safety and assurance, and operational readiness and transition.
Alan has supported major transport programmes by developing operating models, service strategies and delivery plans that bridge the gap between project objectives and day-to-day operations. His experience includes leadership and advisory roles on the Suburban Rail Loop, Western Program Alliance and Queensland Rail business cases, as well as high-speed rail projects in the UK, India and California.
A chartered member of the Institute of Logistics and Transport and a member of the Institute of Railway Operators, Alan combines front-line operational knowledge with executive, commercial and programme leadership experience. He is known for taking a whole-system view of safety-critical projects, helping align stakeholders, manage operational complexity and improve network performance.
